The Queen’s Virtues Series is a beautiful collection from the East India Company and the Issuing Authority of St. Helena. The six-coin series is a particularly remarkable option following the recent passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
These beautiful 5 ounce silver coins are part of the first release of the Queen’s Virtues series, symbolizing Victory. The reverse side features the Winged Angel statue and the powerful message “VICTORY THROUGH HARMONY” against an intricately patterned background. In addition, an early effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Royal Crown is featured on the obverse side.
The series is inspired by the six allegorical figures of Queen Victoria located in a memorial dedicated to her outside Buckingham Palace. The Victoria Memorial was inaugurated in 1901 and holds allegorical statues built within the very top of the monument representing Victoria’s Virtues, which Queen Elizabeth II carried on. Each of the statues features a female representation of a virtue recognized in Her Majesty Queen Victoria during her reign.
